Public Liability Insurance:
Duty of care requires all clubs to have Public Liability insurance in the event of an accident happening during a training session. Insurance for the Academy is provided through Martial Arts & Fitness Coach UK (MAFCUK) with T.L. Risk Solutions who are underwritten by Allianz. Public Liability insurance is held under the Chief Instructors’ name (Paul Parmenter), and Senior Instructors’ name (Malcolm Hazel). Bramston Sports Centre holds copy certificates. As a pre-requisite T.L. Risk Solutions require Instructors to hold nationally recognised qualifications in Instructing, Coaching, Health & Safety, and Child Protection & First Aid.
Student Insurance:
All reasonable precautions are taken to ensure safety at all times in training. although unlikely, the practice of any martial art/combat sport involves the risk of injury. All Academy members will receive annual insurance cover up to £2 million in the event of one student suing another. This is in the form of Public Liability (Third Party/Property/Member to Member) and is provided via Martial Arts & Fitness Coach UK (MAFCUK) with whom they will be a registered and licensed member. Academy membership premium is £18 per annum.
Child Protection/Health & Safety Policy
All Instructors have passed Criminal Records Bureau, (CRB), checks and the Academy has a Child Protection Officer who acts as the main point of contact for parents and junior students. Our Child Protection Officer will be advised of any student with physical signs, behavioural signs or indirect signs of abuse, (likely to result in the Social Services or local Police Child Protection Officer being informed). Students will: -
· Be encouraged to try their best when training but it does not matter if they cannot do a particular exercise or technique; expertise comes with time and repetition.
· Be actively encouraged to practice at home, with their parents permission, which can achieve greater parental support from the child's parent's/guardian's.
· Be requested to always ask the instructor if they wish to leave the training area for any reason, (juniors who have sustained an injury may go to the toilet to be alone and cry, there is also risk that the student may become unwell whilst out of the training hall. Instructors will monitor the length of time away from the training hall).
· Not be forced to do too much; Instructors/Coaches will constantly evaluate student breathing and/or any signs of pain or discomfort. If these telltale signs are event student s will be requested to rest for a period.
In addition, junior students will not be released from the Training Hall (Dojo) unless a parent or authorised adult collects the child. Parents are requested to conform to the requirement
